Conviction is not Truth

Strength of conviction is not proof of rightness — it says more about the person than the premise.

Good Lord, we had 8 years of that under Dubya! 100% Certitude, while % of Accuracy was "somewhat less."

Lately, there's been a commenter on Episcopal Cafe, who's been criticizing me (a "liberal"). When you ask him *his* opinion, he says "God says....". Again, w/ the "strength of conviction"! O_o

There used to be an old saying, "The Bible says it; I believe it; that settles it." Many still live by that simple creed...
